FABIO FABIO are Dj Foresta - a former percussionist, who started turntablism in the 90’s - and Mattia “Tia” Ricco - the duo’s actual nerd. Their music is a mixture of exotism, tribalism and downtempo techno. Dark and groovy tunes created out of a sample library based on thousands of Foresta’s vinyl records as well as underground movies soundtracks. Amore Cannibale’s percussions, for example, are sampled from the Italian mockumentary “Mondo Cane” (Italy, 1962). The second track, Alma, features raw audio material provided by Enrico Ascoli, a sound designer who worked with Foresta years ago (the duo was called Brindisi Paradiso). The recordings are part of an OST he’s been working on. The movie (titled Alma) is dedicated to Alma Negrot, a Brazilian drag queer who’s pushing her body performances beyond gender identity and social pressure.
